Medical negligence
Your health is one of your top priorities.
And, in the hands of medical professionals, it should be of primary importance too.
We are fortunate to have a wealth of competent and professional nurses,
doctors, general practitioners and consultants in Scotland, in general, and in Moray, in particular.
No science is an exact science and medical science is no exception. Within that framework, thankfully, our health professionals almost always ‘get things right’.
If things go wrong in some way, though, it can be disconcerting and overwhelming for you.
The last thing you need when you’re already unwell in some way is for your health to be made worse due to a medical professional’s actions or failures.
Our team of experienced solicitors is there for you to provide the medical/clinical negligence-related advice and support you need when you’ve suffered some sort of medical ‘accident’.
Medical negligence claims are much more complex than ordinary negligence claims.
By “ordinary negligence”, we mean the blame that attaches to someone who causes a road traffic accident or an accident at work, for example.
Medical negligence is a form of professional negligence and, on average, professional negligence is more difficult to prove than ordinary negligence.
These articles on this website and on our Moray Claims website will help you understand better all the issues with medical negligence claims.
- The Biggest Problem with Medical Negligence Claims (that problem is answering the obvious question: Do I have a claim?).
- The Cost Problem with Medical Negligence Claims (and how to get round it) (which is the “second-biggest” problem with medical negligence claims, really).
- Is this (Scottish) Medical Negligence Case the most important one of the last 30 years? (Yes!).
- Why it’s often a good idea to make a formal complaint first rather than launching straight into a medical negligence claim.

How we can help
Our principal solicitors for personal injury claims are Marie Morrison and Peter Brash. They have over 60 years’ combined experience in personal injury work.
Medical negligence claims are a sub-set of ‘personal injury’ claims. You can understand the complexity of medical negligence from the fact that the Law Society of Scotland accredits solicitors as Specialists in Personal Injury Law (an accreditation which Peter holds) and there is a separate accreditation for Medical Negligence Law (which we do not hold at G&Y).
Nevertheless, we have extensive experience in Medical Negligence and we have excellent contacts with other solicitors (and medico-legal experts) whose medical negligence expertise we can call upon when necessary.
Please call us now on 01343 544077 to receive free initial advice without obligation or complete a free online claim enquiry and we will get back to you as quickly as possible.
We are here to assist you from 9am-5pm Monday to Thursday and between 9am-4pm Friday. Outside those times, we will typically respond to online enquiries within 24 hours, often much more quickly.
