At Grigor & Young we deal with numerous enquiries from clients and potential clients every day.

We are not always able to take on possible new work – which can be for a variety of reasons, including –

  • It not being an area of law in which we have specialist knowledge (e.g. Criminal Law)
  • Possible or actual conflicts of interest with existing clients of the firm
  • Lack of capacity to take on new business, particularly where the necessary work must be completed as a matter of urgency.

In those circumstances, we are often asked to recommend other Solicitors and Estate Agents in Elgin – which we are happy to do.

Below is an alphabetical list of some of the law firms and practitioners that have a solid reputation in the Elgin area.

How to make a good choice

So there is a range of Elgin solicitors’ firms to consider if you’re getting quotes for legal-related work.

Studies have shown that, if you are looking for a solicitor, the factor you are likely to rate most highly is “proven specialist knowledge”.

For solicitors in Scotland, this is something which can be demonstrated via Specialist Accreditation through the Law Society of Scotland or other professional bodies.

Other factors people find important when identifying a suitable solicitor include –

  • The solicitor being recommended to them by a relative or friend
  • Geographical proximity – where the solicitor is either in your home town or near your workplace, and
  • The possibility of an early face-to-face appointment with a solicitor

Hopefully, in your case, you will manage to tick at least a few of these boxes and your experience in dealing with a solicitor will be an exceptional one.

We are here to help

Our offices are closed but we are still open and here to help.

In accordance with Government guidelines, and to ensure the health and well-being of our
Staff and the wider community, our offices in Elgin and Forres are now closed to the public
until further notice.

However, we are still here to help you. We have a very small, core team remaining at each
office and the bulk of our legal and property teams are working remotely and are available to
assist you by way of telephone, video call or email.

Our main office number (01343 544077) is manned from 9am – 5pm, Monday to Thursday
and 9am – 4pm on Fridays. Please call and you will be passed to the member of our team
dealing with your business. If you are a new client requiring assistance, then you will be
passed to someone who will be able to help.

Those members of our team who are working remotely remain contactable on their direct
dial numbers and email. If the person who was dealing with your business is not currently
working then your call or email is being diverted to the person progressing matters for you.

This is a difficult time for everyone. We want to do all that we can to help you continue with
any ongoing business, or simply help and advise you if you have concerns. These are
extraordinary times and we totally understand that you may have legal questions or
concerns. Please feel free to call for a chat and we will do all we can to assist.

If we all take good care of ourselves, our families, our friends and our neighbours, we are
sure that together we will come through this difficult time.
