“Free after 3”
The Free After 3pm parking in 2 of Elgin town centre’s multi-storey car parks (Batchen Lane and St Giles Shopping Centre) has started with effect from Monday, 8 June 2015 for a 6-month trial period.
It will be in the interests of local businesses and customers alike to make sure that the scheme is a success. Accordingly, when the time comes to review its progress, early in 2016, we need to have good quality evidence available and that requires your help.
Make sure you take a (free) ticket
In order to record and gather data and prove that the car parks are being better used due to the impact of the initiative, we would urge all users to get a ticket from the machine (which is free of charge) and display as usual.
Gill Neill, Manager of the town centre business group Elgin BID (which proposed the scheme), is optimistic that it will attract more shoppers and consumers to the area during the free parking times.
We are sure Elgin BID will appreciate your feedback on any benefits or drawbacks of allowing parking free after 3 in Elgin town centre. We hope it proves to be worthwhile.
