We have received some questions about our Moray Claims tagline, which appears, for example, on our Twitter page.
It is: Helping you in Moray to claim fair and full compensation for personal injury.
We are going to try and answer those questions here.
Does it mean that you only help people who live in Moray?
No, it doesn’t mean that.
You only need to read the Testimonials on the Moray Claims and Grigor & Young websites to see that we have helped injured people over a wide area in Northern Scotland, including the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland.
Grigor & Young and Moray Claims are only based “in Moray”, not elsewhere, so the tagline is correct on that basis.
We are certainly better-placed to help you if we are local to you – that’s a benefit we always find in being able to meet with clients face-to-face.
Aren’t “fair” and “full” the same thing?
Not necessarily.
By “fair compensation”, we mean getting the reasonable value your claim deserves.
The law only looks at claims for personal injury in money terms.
Valuation of claims is an art, not a science.
There is no uniquely “right answer” for the value of a personal injury claim.
There is always room for reasonable people to disagree over a valuation. And, of course, insurance companies are in the business of minimising the value of your personal injury claim, as far as possible.
To us, what matters in relation to “fair compensation” is the fact that not all solicitors are the same.
By that, we mean that not all solicitors have the necessary experience or expertise in personal injury law to be able to achieve for you the “fair” value of your claim.
How do you know whether a particular solicitor has the necessary credentials?
Our solicitors have specialist accreditations from both the Law Society of Scotland and the Association of Personal Injury Lawyers.
By “full compensation”, we emphasise our aim that you should receive in your hands the entire sum of compensation which your claim is agreed to be worth (or a court decides it is worth).
Under many arrangements with solicitors and claims handlers, you won’t receive the full amount of compensation because you agree that, in the event of success, you will pay a proportion (typically, up to 20%) of your compensation to them (or a funding company).
As you can see from our testimonials, we are trying to be different that way.
